Mime

I have taught English, ESL and drama for a number of years now at a secondary school in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. I have taught VCE English for many years and am passionate about enhancing both student academic capabilities and determination to excel at school. I am patient, proficient, dedicated, knowledgable and enthusiastic. Whilst at university I spent a year doing voluntary teaching in Kenya and learnt much about approaches toward teaching. Whilst at university I was also trained to teach primary school aged students.
My knowledge on novels/texts is abundant as I work for another company who lectures VCE students and I also write study guides for VCE texts.

i was once tutored in math during high school, so i understand how it feels to feel like your struggling.im very patient and want to make sure the student always feels confident in what they are doing. I have undertaken a BA, majored in English and Drama (including literature) and minored in Legal Studies and Media. i was offered to do an honours course this year, but decided to go directly to teaching. I am a mature age student with lots of life experience. I am very patient with students and enjoy helping people to understand unfamiliar concepts. I am particularly good at helping students learn to analyze texts and apply that analysis in writing effective essays. I have lots of theatre experience and am particularly good at helping students prepare for performance tasks, particularly, solo performance years 12.

I am an experienced teacher and tutor, having worked in various countrys, all over the world, learning and experiencing many different styles of teaching- My time teaching ESL and Drama has aided my communication skills in terms of realising a students potential and how best to gain the most out of each unique student. I also work on the ethos that students should enjoy their time studying as this will aid optimum advancement in both their development and understanding. However working as a high school teacher in demanding seconadary schools I have developed how I work with both younger and older students, and the importance of adaptation, and control in order to gain the students trust and respect so that they can fulfill their potential,
