I have a strong academic background in multifarious subjects and am confident in my abilities to meet the needs of any and all students. I am highly animated, as I was in theatre arts programs for five years and acted in as well as directed several plays. I have a friendly disposition and am extremely patient. I learned immense patience from volunteering with mentally/physically disabled and abused children. I form personal relationships with my students and make them feel completely comfortable with me. I refrain from acting superior or making my students feel inadequate. My sessions are intimate and I continually instill a sense of pride in my students and encourage them in any way possible. I have a profound desire to enrich the minds of young people. I am very tenacious and have staunch work ethics, and these attributes are evident in all endeavors I undertake. I am currently a postdoctoral Research Fellow at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, with the long-term goal of obtaining a tenure track position at a university that values teaching. My areas of expertise, enthusiasm for teaching, and flexible schedule seem perfectly suited to your expressed needs.

Before going to graduate school, I tutored undergraduate algebra courses. As part of my graduate school experience, I taught several molecular Biology courses to undergraduates. In the past couple of years (since moving to NYC), I have been an active participant in the Cornell Science Challenge, an outreach education program that pairs professional researchers with 7th grade science classes. I am now looking to find a more structured tutoring opportunity. If mutually agreeable, I would be available to tutor throughout the academic year.

I have experience with classroom Instruction for SAT included reviewing basic skills and test taking strategies while disciplining students into a prep curriculum. I also performed personalized diagnostic analysis and helped place students into classes. I also counselled high school students in small groups. I also conducted intensive SAT workshops for Writing and Critical Reading strategies. For some students that prefered individual attention, I tailored tutorial sessions for private in-home instruction to meet their needs and schedules. I prepared and planned my tutoring sessions in cordance with the lectures of the professor's curriculum. My biggest challenge was designing a lesson plan for all students alike, developing a strategy to help them master all the skills they need. I assigned practice problems and homework assignments relevant to the subject matter and followed up by reviewing the strategies used to guide the student through exercises exclusive to the entrance test they are prepping for.

I am use to tutoring my piers, i did that most of highschool in science classes.
